IDENTITY THEFT
PROTECT YOURSELF
  • Safeguard all personal information such as account numbers, personal identification numbers and passwords, and social security number. Do not disclose this information unless know with whom you are dealing.
  • Do not give personal information out to anyone who has contacted you "claiming" to be from your financial institution, a government agency, or awarding a prize. Notify your bank if you receive such a call.
  • Report the loss or theft of checks and credit or debit cards immediately. Verify check numbers to ensure no checks have been stolen during delivery. Review the expiration date on cards to track when you should be receiving your replacement in the mail.
  • Shred all personal information being disposed of.
  • If you are not receiving your mail, contact the United States Postal Service in your area, the companies that bill you, and your bank. Your address may have been falsely diverted using a change of address to steal your personal information.
  • If regular billing companies' correspondence appears unfamiliar and includes questionable items requesting information, call to verify that the notification is from the company and not an attempt at identity theft.
  • Only place mail in an official United States Postal Service mailbox.
  • Never answer Internet e-mail or click on a link asking for personal or financial information.
WHAT YOUR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION DOES
  • A Privacy Policy is in place to protect your personal information. Annual employee training provides better understanding of the Privacy Policy. This policy is strictly enforced.
  • The financial institution has internal controls in place restricting employee access to only necessary customer information needed to provide you with products and services.
